Good news for Malaysian homeowners considering solar energy — the Government has officially launched the Sustainable Rebate and Incentive Assistance (SuRIA) Home programme, offering rebates of up to RM3,000 for residential rooftop solar installations.
The SuRIA Home solar rebate was introduced to help Malaysians reduce rising electricity costs while encouraging the adoption of clean and sustainable energy solutions nationwide.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, announced that RM150 million has been allocated for the programme, which is expected to benefit between 45,000 and 50,000 homes across Malaysia.

What is the SuRIA Home Solar Rebate?
SuRIA Home is a government rebate programme designed to support homeowners installing rooftop solar systems under the Solar ATAP programme.
Eligible homeowners can receive:
Up To RM3,000 Rebate
- RM600 rebate for every 1kWac installed
- Up to RM3,000 rebate per household
Limited Slots
Available for only 45,000 to 50,000 domestic homes.

Who is Eligible?
The rebate is open to:
- Malaysian homeowners
- Individual domestic low-voltage (LV) electricity consumers
- Homes with Solar ATAP systems successfully connected and operational with Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB)
Each eligible individual is limited to one rebate claim only.
Important Dates to Know
The SuRIA Home solar rebate programme:
- Begins on 1 June 2026
- Operates on a first-come, first-served basis
- Is available until:
- 31 December 2026, or
- until the 250MW quota is fully utilised
